He was considered Rome’s most powerful politician, she the most beautiful woman of classical antiquity: Caesar and Cleopatra! Speyer's Historical Museum of the Palatinate is devoting a cultural history exhibition from April 13 to October 26, 2025 to the arguably most famous lovers of antiquity, for which the Fondation Gandur pour l'Art loans more than a dozen objects.

Discover myths and legends surrounding the legendary love affair in the exhibition “Caesar & Cleopatra” and explore the dramatic period of the fall of the Roman Republic, the end of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt and the rise of Emperor Augustus in Rome.
Over 200 objects from 30 lenders from eight countries, including the Louvre in Paris and the Vatican Museums in Rome, not only tell the love story of Cleopatra VII and Gaius Julius Caesar but also examine political, social and cultural change in this crucial era. The Fondation Gandur pour l'Art loans 14 objects on this occasion.
Virtual reconstructions provide completely new and fascinating insights into the sites historical events and interactive stations convey interesting facts about the classical world hands-on.
