Exhibitions

Since 2011, the Fondation Gandur pour l'Art lends its works to the most prestigious institutions in the museum world so that they can be discovered by as many people as possible : from the Juan March Foundation in Madrid to the Hermitage in Lausanne, from the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao to the Museum of Modern Art in the city of Paris.

The Foundation wished to briefly retrace the purpose of the exhibitions for which it has lent works. These texts are largely inspired and drawn from the sites relating to the exhibitions of the borrowing institutions, for which they are thanked here.
The Foundation is pleased to be able to contribute to the influence of the artists and the different cultures exhibited through these loans.

Americans in Paris, Artists Working in Postwar France, 1946-1952

Following World War II, hundreds of artists from the United States flocked to the City of Light. Americans in Paris explores a vibrant community of expatriates who lived in France for a year or more during the period from 1946 to 1962. Showcased here are some 130 paintings, sculptures, photographs, films, textiles, and works on paper by nearly 70 artists, providing a fresh perspective on a creative ferment too often overshadowed by the contemporaneous ascendency of the New York art scene.

Hall of Ancient Egypt

The long-term partnership between the Fondation Gandur pour l’Art (FGA) and the Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS) was established in 2021. An initial selection of fifteen masterpieces from the FGA are presented in the permanent hall of Egyptian art of the HMNS. Their unveiling is scheduled to coincide with the opening of the exhibition Ramses the Great and the Gold of the Pharaohs. The bust of Ramses loaned by the FGA serves as a practical link between the permanent displays and the temporary exhibition, which showcases artefacts exclusively selected from Egyptian institutions.
