Franco-Swiss archaeological mission to Saqqara (Egypt)

Benefitting from the support of the FGA since the academic year 2015-2016 and for a period of 5 years, this Mission aims to deepen and improve the research and study of The Pyramid Texts, the oldest preserved collection of religious texts in the history of humanity.

In 1987, then in 2012, the Mission decided to extend its action and to undertake the excavation of the pyramid complexes of the royal family around the pyramid of Pépy 1st.

This mission is conducted under the aegis of the University of Geneva in partnership with the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique and the Université Paris Sorbonne -Paris IV, and also receives financial support from the Commission des recherches archéologiques à l'étranger of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development.
