Stemming from its firm belief in evolving the visitor’s experience in museums and integrating this with the possibilities offered by new technology, the Fondation Gandur pour l’Art has formed a partnership with EPFL to promote research and its application in the field of museography. This multifaceted partnership is the subject of two agreements:
A Fondation Gandur pour l’Art Chair will be established in 2017, dedicated to the promotion and study of artistic heritage by means of new technology. In addition to financial support, the Fondation Gandur pour l’Art will also make its collections available to researchers and museographists for their work. This new Chair in the digital humanities, integrated into the College of Humanities at EPFL, will assist in defining the museum of tomorrow and in improving the preservation of cultural and artistic heritage.
By 2018, the Under One Roof building, a new flagship project under development on the EPFL campus by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, will combine three areas dedicated to dialogue between science and arts. The Fondation Gandur pour l’Art is supporting the construction of the central pavilion, dedicated to research and museographical experimentation. Furthermore, the Foundation has committed to make its collections available to this genuine museographical laboratory by devising temporary exhibition programmes in close collaboration with EPFL.
